Celebrate Christmas All Year Long

Speaking of “celebrating Christmas” in July, if you haven’t seen this video put out by the LDS church last Christmas, you’ve gotta check it out. I can’t wait until December to share it with you! Like I said in my last post, we should all “think on Christ” ALL year long, not only in December during the Christmas season.

Here’s the video I’m referring to. Check it out, if you’d like. It’s really beautiful.

I’m so grateful for Jesus Christ. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, and also the Head of His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Can you even imagine…?! If it really is true—and there are tried and true ways to know for yourself that it is—if there’s really a church where Christ is at the head, where He speaks with the leaders, directs the affairs thereof, and is guiding it’s growth the way He wants it to be led, that’s pretty big news. The BIGGEST! I don’t know about you, but I’d want to be a part of it if it was true. Or, at the very least, I’d want to do all in my power to find out if it was, for myself, once and for all, and then embrace it once I did. I’d pay the price to learn, study, pray about it and get my own answer—it’s that important. It’s worth the effort, however long it takes.

I wouldn’t pay heed to anyone intent on tearing down or damaging an organization—any organization for that matter—which is obviously doing so much good and blessing so many lives all over the world. That just doesn’t make any common sense! (despite the lies some invent to try to cement their position). It just doesn’t add up.

And, second, whatever I did … I’d listen to the Spirit, I’d follow my heart, and find out for myself the way The Promise of the Book of Mormon shows us how to do so (see Moroni 10: 3-5). There is a clear and obvious difference, apparent to anyone with half-a-brain, between the peace of the gospel and the cacophony of opposing voices. Satan may try to convince you that the opposite is true, but he can’t imitate light. He can’t convince you of what your heart says is true, no matter how hard he tries.

The apostle Paul said there was “one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4: 5) and I know that it’s true. That’s not to say there aren’t many good faiths, good churches, great organizations everywhere trying to do good and making a difference in their own ways. (Personally, I believe that anything that draws people closer to God is good and right). It just means that ultimately there is one path, one truth that’s 100% His. There is and always has been a “fullness” of His gospel—His plan in its entirety … not a version thereof that’s been modified or altered, often to a person’s best ability or intentions, but that is still incomplete without the absolute certainty and direction that only pure revelation undefiled can provide.

This at its heart is the message of the Mormon church. This is the “great announcement”—that Christ’s church has been restored and that you—yes you, me, and all of us—can know for ourselves whether it’s true or not. And, this is the great awakening that brings it all together and makes it all perfectly good and fair and just. There is a way to KNOW for ourselves. We aren’t alone and we never have been. Our Father in Heaven, in His goodness and mercy, prepared us a way. And, He loves us … more than we will ever (in this life) know. But, He does and He’s left pieces of evidence all along the way. We just have to trust in them, embrace them when we’re ready, and when we are, look out! Watch our lives begin to change.

If you’d like to, read my previous write-up, “Is the Book of Mormon a Fraud?” for several insights into and answers to this question of how we can know for sure. Check out XXX as mentioned above to see the promise the Lord gave us. And, keep checking back for more of my insights on this topic. I’ve got lots more to share with you.

Hey, thank you for following along. I’m happy to see the number of visitors growing and I hope my insights help.

With all my heart and hope for us all.

Warmest regards,

Patrick Laing – Portland, Oregon USA
