We All Know Who Will Win the Fight

Ultimately, when it comes down to it, as I mentioned in my first post, there’s a definite battle going on … for the souls of men, women, and children (and our happiness) everywhere. And, in many respects, it looks like Satan is winning (even though he isn’t and even though we know in the end he’ll lose … big time). It feels a little daunting, though, at times, I’ll be the first to admit. One just has to look around to see the depravity and wickedness all over the world to know that, whatever the “score,” we’re in serious need of good people stepping up, doing more, standing tall, and not backing down even in the face of opposition.

Like I said, this is one reason I decided to do this daily blog and post positive, uplifting, reminders about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka a Mormon). While many are seeking to tear down the Church, it’s message, history, doctrine, and people, good-hearted and sincere believers worldwide are responding to the call, the goodness, and the truth that they see in the LDS Church and its people—the inherent, unmistakable, authenticity and undeniable beauty of it all.

There have always been naysayers, both within the Mormon church and also without, not to mention in many other areas—but GOOD ALWAYS OVERCOMES! Such was the case with Martin Luther King, Gandhi, the American Revolution, and the Prophet Joseph Smith. And, even when many of the great leaders like these have sealed their testimony with their blood, their message continues on. That’s just what happens when something is good and people can’t deny it, even when they try.

The famous verse from the Book of Mormon on faith reminds us what happens when we put something good and true to the test (Alma 32: 28):

Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.

“By their fruit ye shall know them” comes to mind whenever I read this verse.

The Church and the members thereof are doing a lot of good all over the world. Our philanthropic efforts alone are the stuff of legend. But, there is still much to do … whether we’re Mormon or not. There is still a war waging and it’s threatening our homes, our families, our very way of life. We need to stand together, stand up, and do what we can to combat it.

Speaking of “fighting for what we believe in,” I love this song from another set of highly popular Mormon musicians, the YouTube sensations, The Piano Guys. It’s a great rendition of an extraordinary classic.
